One of the benefits of being stationed at or visiting Osan Air Base is the proximity of the major shopping area to the main gate. Step out the gate and you're there, in the wonderland of stores for shopping and bars for entertainment. |
| Low-Rent Apartments |
When non-command sponsored family members started arriving at Osan Air Base, there was no housing for them. Korean entrepreneurs responded by building an apartment complex for them that was know as the Foreigners' Apartments. In May 2008, Kalani O'Sullivan asked me where the apartments are located. I responded that they no longer exist, but I gave him a series of photos that showed where the apartments were located, what's there now and then included a walk to the Mido Apartments, located not far from the main gate. |
| Arboretum at Osan City |
In May of 2008, we caught the electric train to Osan City, north of Osan AB, to visit the Arboretum. To get there, exit the Osan College station on the west (mountain) side. Exiting the station, go right and follow the road as it heads to the main thoroughfare. Cross the main road and go straight for a short distance until you come to the entrance to the Arboretum on the left side. Approaching the entrance, you'll see many food vendors. |
