10/28/11 - a lot of finishing work has taken place on the back of the new club with more great weather. Construction completion forecast for Mar 2012, interior furnishing and setup estimated complete about Jun 2012.
9/20/11 - with the cool, low-humidity early autumn weather, the time is right for an update of the new club construction against a beautiful blue sky with flecks of clouds.

10/26/10 - less than a week has passed since the last update and major vertical work is now seen. The Turumi Lodge is almost completely blocked from view and concrete pour should start soon.
10/21/10 - a week later and the final layer of concrete now fully encases the horizontal rebar. Rebar and vertical forms have been emplaced starting at the left to hold the concrete for the start of wall construction.
10/14/10 - rebar has been installed throughout the new club foundation and concrete laid over the dirt as the progress continues to finish the foundation and start the vertical work.
10/05/10 - just five days later and after weekend rain, progress continues with fill to go over the dirt and under the concrete. The area just to the right of center looks interesting. It has a non-standard shape, like an entertainment area.
9/30/10 - with dirt fill added, reinforcing bar now outlines the layout of the club's floor plan, room by room and it looks like concrete is being laid starting at the left side, maybe covered in plastic to let it cure slowly.
9/14/10 - the man in the blue shirt with the orange hose looks like he's involved in draining the accumulated rainwater, while the man to the right sitting on the concrete foundation wall looks like he's taking a break from working on the same task.
9/05/10 - the construction crew is back to work trying to pack in as much backfill as they can before the next typhoon hits Osan, with the clouds starting to darken as I write this caption.
8/31/10 - there's been a significant amount of rain in this post-monsoon period, but that doesn't seem to have slowed construction. I wanted to get this update before the next typhoon comes through this area, and it's scheduled to hit us two days from now.
8/19/10 - a lot of vertical progress with concrete is visible since the last look two weeks ago. The progress continues despite high humidity and high temperatures.
8/19/10 - here's a ground-level view of the site to give you a different perspective. Notice across the lot is that they've started stacking the construction 'office' boxes.			8/19/10 - from the leftmost corner of the photo at left.
8/03/10 - a new view shows the rebar in the previous photo has now been encased in concrete and more forms and rebar continue the march to the right as the club footing starts to take shape.
7/27/10 - here's an update showing more reinforcing bar being installed at the left and general progress elsewhere. The haze at the left side of the image is caused by water vapor blowing up from the air conditioning units.
7/15/10 - so much for predictions of monsoon rains delaying the construction as the monsoon front has hung around mostly off the southern coast leaving dry ground and generally clear skies in the Osan AB area.
7/03/10 - well, as predicted, the monsoon rains have started as shown here and progress will be slow until the rains stop and the ground dries a bit.
7/01/10 - considerable progress has been made in the month since the last photo as work progresses over the entire site. However, monsoon starts this weekend.
5/30/10 - if you compare this photo, taken two months after the previous one below, it's clear that the spring rains are slowing down the construction.
3/28/10 - and the rain continues to stymie any chance to pour concrete so the focus of work continues at the left side, but without concrete.
3/18/10 - more rain slowed construction again as seen in the water-filled holes that are supposed to contain the concrete main supports. Some work is being done at the left.
3/04/10 - the recent rains stopped construction for awhile and resulted in each of the main support holes filled with water and looking like mini swimming pools.
2/02/10 - considerable progress has been made with more precipitation-free days, and the weather, though still wintry, has been amenable with fewer work interruptions.
1/12/10 - the falling temperatures have brought construction to a halt. With morning temperature about -16°C (around 3°F), and with snow on the ground, work has stopped for the safety of the workers.
12/28/09 - the cold weather doesn't seem to have slowed workers in front of conex to the right of the dirt pile. When they started work this morning, the temperature was about -11°C (around 12°F) but they press on.
12/16/09 - holes have been dug and forms put in for the footings that will be poured. The moutain of dirt covered by netting is best viewed at ground level.

10/29/09 - the new Challenger Enlisted Club construction has finally begun with a fence around the site. Expect good coverage as this is right next to Bldg 936 where the Retiree Activities Office is located.
9/07/08 - the new Challenger Club is still dormant, although some site preparation is going on at the left where utilities connections are being made
7/13/08 - the new Challenger Club will be built on this site next to the new Community Center; and the bare soil probably caused part of the drainage problem shown below

2/01/08 - a lot of progress has been made and the building looks closer to final finish and even more of the construction materials remain stored at the site
12/12/07 - the inside layer of the roof has been completed, providing weather protection for work inside. Roofing has been added atop the six concrete posts.
11/17/07 - the building continues to show good progress, with work started on the roof-supporting girders. Six concrete posts have been erected at the left side.

10/27/07 - two weeks later and the building continues its upward progress. I can't help but wonder about the large open area to the right. Looks large enough for a parking garage.

9/16/07 - a week later and the rains had continued to keep the construction side inundated. Coming week will probably be no better with typhoon rains and wind predicted.

9/08/07 - unseasonal rains (post-monsoon) have slowed but not stopped the construction. A tent has been added at the right to allow workmen to continue some work despite the weather.
8/18/07 - the forms for the foundation of the community center building are clearly visible at the left side. Wonder what will be occupying the large area at the right. A ski jump?
7/31/07 - another two weeks since the last photo and more significant progress is seen at the left side where forms are in place indicating the that construction should be starting soon

6/30/07 - lot of change has occurred in the site preparation for the Community Activities Center. Looks like they're trying to build a mountain in the middle, but it's probably just overcoming drainage problems.
6/23/07 - at the left, some of the piers that were inserted have been cut down and stack of "tops" can be seen. Drainage is a problem and pump is visible at the bottom center of the scene. A high-detail image (1.3 MB) can be viewed here.
