The 2004 annual membership meeting of the United States Military Retirees Association was held on Saturday, December 4, 2004 from 1000-1200 at the Multi-Function Facility on Yongsan South Post (also known as the South Post Theater) across from the Elementary School. Attendance was less than expected or hoped for with no more than
15 retirees and spouses in attendance.

The guest speaker was COL Chuck Jackson, USA Retired, Chairman of the United States Forces Korea Retiree Council. He provided an overview of policy matters of interest to retirees. One item which has aroused retiree concern is the USFK curfew policy. Another is the issue of what constitutes "solicitation of prostitution" as defined in the USFK policy. Is buying a drink for a bar girl now a crime?

Jack Terwiel of the Osan AB Retiree Activities Office provided a briefing to update retirees on legislative development in 2004, changes in the RAO operation and some other information of interests. In addition to the on-screen briefing display (clickable above), it is also available in PPS, PPT and PDF formats.

Following the speaker and briefing, two awards were made to Jack Terwiel. The Association Acting President Richard Boyce presented a certificate with the text here. Chuck Jackson, Retiree Council Chairman, presented an eagle statue with text here.

Election of Officers was also conducted. Al Chellis resumed the role of USMRAK President after a one-year hiatus. He replaces the previously elected Wnd Thomas, who has departed Korea. Richard Boyce was re-elected Vice President, and Jack Terwiel was elected Secretary, a position he had previously held. He replaces Matt Brown, who has departed Korea.

Remember that these officers cannot do all that needs to be done — nor should they be expected to do it all. The USMRAK needs your support if we want retiree living conditions to improve as a result of positive policy and command support to all retirees and widows living in Korea.
